Yamada Church

A district where some hidden Christian communities eventually embraced Catholicism.
Through the devoted efforts of Father Peru, who ministered in the Hirado region from 1878, many hidden Christians eventually returned to the Catholic faith. The present brick church, designed and built by master architect Yosuke Tetsukawa, was completed in 1912 and continues to stand as a graceful testament to that renewed devotion.
